Council Meeting Highlights for March 27, 2017




Financial Services
                
Bylaw 436 (Borrowing-SE Area Phase 2 Waterline)
Council approved Bylaw 436, the bylaw required to authorize the borrowing to fund the second phase of construction of the South East Water Trunk Main extension, after giving it second and third readings as presented.

Bylaw 437 (Borrowing – Main Street Program)
Council approved Bylaw 437, a borrowing bylaw to fund the construction of storm, sewer, sidewalk and road infrastructure on 50 Avenue, from Highway 2A to 53 Street, to replace existing infrastructure and collectively known as the “Main Street Project”, after giving it second and third readings as presented.


Planning & Development Services

Land Use Bylaw 400.02 Amendment
Council gave first reading to the proposed amendments in Land Use Bylaw 400.02. Council subsequently directed Administration to hold a public hearing on Monday, April 24, 2017, at 5:40 p.m. to consider Bylaw 400.02.

Bylaws 438/439 Road Closure Applications
Council gave first reading to Bylaw 438 for the closure of Plan 3401R, and then directed Administration to hold a Public Hearing for Bylaw 438 on April 24, 2017, at 5:30 p.m.

Council also gave first reading to Bylaw 439 for the closure of Plan 8251ET, and directed Administration to hold a Public Hearing for Bylaw 439 on April 24 at 5:35 p.m.

Henner Heights Outline Plan – adoption
Council passed a resolution to adopt the Henner Heights Outline Plan as amended (with the inclusion of rear alleyways and text updates, broadening of the possible roadway path through R5 area in southern part of the plan).


Recreation, Parks and Culture Services

Pool Filter Room RFP
Council passed a resolution to award the Pool Mechanical Supply and Replacement Tender contract to Automated Aquatics Canada Ltd. for $255,600 plus GST.

Chiller/Ice Plant Tender
Council directed Administration to enter into a contract with CIMCO Refrigeration to undertake the Can Pak Ice Complex/Freightliner Curling Complex plant replacement for a stipulated price of $1,229,375 + GST.

Council also directed Administration to execute a change order with Scott Builders to upgrade the plant room to meet “Class T” CSA B–52, ammonia compressor room requirements for a cost of $217,580 + GST.

Committee Meetings
Council passed a resolution to cancel the April 3 and June 5 Council Committee meetings.
