Lacombe’s 2015 Light Up the Night Festival grows to five fun-filled days

The City of Lacombe, together with Lacombe Regional Tourism, local businesses and community partners, is pleased to announce that the annual Light Up the Night Winter Festival runs from November 25-29, and includes old favorites like the Tim Horton’s Santa Claus Parade, a tree lighting ceremony, a community lights and display contest, and a Christmas Farmer’s Market. There will also be some new offerings, including the Holly Jolly Geocache, the Jingle Bell Run, a Christmas Brunch, and a dual ice-slide (weather permitting).

“This festival has grown to five days from four last year and is better than ever, and I want to thank all the festival sponsors and volunteers for their amazing community spirit,” said Mayor Steve Christie. “I am also looking forward to participating in another Guinness World Record attempt; this time for the World’s Largest Human Snowman. I encourage everyone to come down to help put Lacombe on the map again.”

The 2015 Light Up the Night festival boasts over 20 events over a five-day period, and the proceeds raised from the various events will assist a number of local charities and community groups.

“We look forward to lots of family-friendly entertainment and holiday shopping during Moonlight Madness,” said Community and Economic Development Manager Guy Lapointe. “I am still in awe at how closely this festival has been embraced by the community. We have a jam-packed and fun-filled schedule, a great holiday atmosphere, and we look forward to seeing everyone there.”
