Lacombe to host mock disaster live-training exercise
On the afternoon of Thursday, October 22, 2015, the City of Lacombe will participate in an emergency response training exercise involving our partners in the Lacombe County Mutual Aid Organization (LCMAO).
This mock disaster live-training exercise involves a mutual aid response by the LCMAO to two separate incidents, one in the city of Lacombe and the other at the Dow/MEGlobal/Praxair Prentiss Site in Lacombe County.
In Lacombe, the Lacombe Fire Department, Lacombe Police Service, City staff and LCMAO members will participate in the mock disaster exercise, which will be located in the vicinity of 46 Street and 46 Avenue.
To keep the community informed, letters were mailed to nearby affected residents and businesses, notifications were sent to local media outlets, and messages are being posted on the City of Lacombe’s website and social media sites. Road signs will be posted at the scenario locations during the exercise to advise motorists to avoid the area.
Simulation exercises are an excellent opportunity to test and improve individual facility and mutual aid emergency response plans and procedures for our city. Engaging multiple agencies maximizes the training experience, and builds solid working relationships in advance of a true emergency.
